I am a graduate of the Master of Counselling program from Queensland University of Technology, with a specialized focus on supporting families and children. Over the past four years, I have worked as a college counsellor, providing support to students from Prep through to Year 12. This role has allowed me to gain extensive experience working with both students and their families. I enjoy collaborating with teachers, nurses, college leadership and the wider school staff to best meet the needs of the students, families, and the broader school community.
In 2024, I became a member of the ACA College of Supervisors, and I look forward to furthering my work in this area, which aligns with my professional passion.
Prior to my counselling career in Australia, I worked in the United States with primary school-aged children in an Occupational Therapy setting. This experience has proven invaluable in my current practice, particularly in making appropriate referrals when necessary. Additionally, my role as a Foster and Kinship Care Practitioner provided me with the opportunity to manage complex caseloads and deepen my understanding of child protection.
These varied experiences have allowed me to develop a comprehensive understanding of the diverse needs of families and children, enriching my ability to provide tailored support.
I primarily work within a Solution-Focused and Narrative framework, though I also integrate approaches from Neuroscience, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Systemic therapeutic interventions, depending on the specific needs of the client. My commitment to collaborative practice, and looking at cases through multiple perspectives allows me to tailor my approach to best fit the unique goals and needs of each client or supervisee, ensuring a holistic and client-centered therapeutic process.
