10 years’ experience as a therapeutic counsellor working with children, youth and adults with autism and/or disability.
Overall, Ali has 39 years’ experience facilitating growth in children, youth
and adults with autism and/or disability and their families, in various contexts and roles.
Through her private practice
in Port Adelaide, South Australia, Ali provides person-centred, autism-, disability-,
and trauma-informed therapy to NDIS participants of all ages with Capacity
Building ‘Improved Daily Living’ funding, and who are plan-managed or
self-managed. You can also connect with Ali via Tele-counselling.
Formerly
employed with Relationships Australia South Australia, Ali provided counselling
to autistic children and youth who were disengaged from life and learning, and clients registered
with the Disability Royal Commission Counselling Service and rebuild Victims of
Crime Service.
Disempowering
contexts that Ali’s clients have faced include domestic family violence, sexual
abuse, neglect, exploitation, PTSD, complex and developmental trauma, suicide
ideation, non-suicidal self-injury, mental illness, addiction, grief and loss,
family dysfunction, relationship difficulties and systemic imbalances of power.
Ali has significant experience using Augmentative and Alternative Communication
(AAC) enabling a genuinely inclusive counselling service for those who often
feel invisible and not heard.
A privilege to facilitate improved hope, strength and purpose, while clients
bring a positive shift of the balance of power into their own hands.
Ali is currently studying her Master of
Counselling.
