Protea Counselling provides a respectful, calm, non-
judgemental, empathetic and confidential space which enables
and empowers clients to reflect on, and process, their own life
journey and experiences, leading to self-discovery, self-
awareness, restorative healing and positive growth.
In 2015 Amanda graduated with her Masters in Social Science
(Psychotherapy and Family Counselling) from Edith Cowan
University and has since gained significant experience in the
mental health field, working in relationship focused and crisis
intervention NGOs, community counselling organisations and the
education sector.
Her experience in this field together with her recognition of the
need for more accessible and affordable mental wellness support
in our community led to her establishing her private practice, Protea Counselling.
Using a Person-Centred Psychodynamically informed approach,
coupled with a range of therapeutic evidence-based strategies
and creative interventions, including sand tray therapy, Amanda
draws on her training, her corporate and counselling experience,
and her fundamental belief in the importance of relationship
when she is working with her clients, be they adults, children, couples, families or groups.
