Hello and a very warm welcome! My name is Ashoo (Ash). I am
a practicing Mental Health Counsellor and a true believer that mental health
and wellbeing are first, always. I provide compassionate support and guidance
to help young people navigate life's challenges, fostering a safe and nurturing
environment where they can express themselves freely.
At The Heart and Mind Hub, I work with children and
adolescents, offering a range of services tailored to meet their unique needs.
My approach is holistic, integrating individual counselling, play therapy,
behavioural therapy, family consultation, and school-based counselling. Each
child is unique, and I strive to adapt my methods to best suit their individual
circumstances, ensuring that they feel understood and empowered throughout the
therapeutic process.
I create a trusting space where young people can explore
their feelings, thoughts, and behaviours. Together, we work to identify the
challenges they face, whether it be anxiety, depression, or difficulties in
relationships. Through open dialogue and various therapeutic techniques, I help
them develop coping strategies and enhance their emotional resilience.
Play therapy is another vital component of my work with
children. Young minds often express themselves better through play rather than
words. This method allows children to process their experiences and emotions in
a safe and engaging way. Using toys, art, and storytelling, I guide them in
exploring their feelings, which can lead to profound insights and healing.
Behavioural therapy is effective for children facing
specific challenges, such as disruptive behaviours or social difficulties. By
implementing structured interventions, I help them learn new skills and behaviours,
fostering a positive change in their actions and interactions. Together, we set
achievable goals that can lead to meaningful progress and greater
self-awareness.
Family consultation plays an essential role in my practice
as well. I believe that involving family members can significantly enhance a
child's therapeutic experience. By working collaboratively with parents and
guardians, we address family dynamics and communication patterns, ensuring that
everyone is on the same page and equipped to support the child’s journey toward
better mental health.
Additionally, I offer school-based counselling, recognising
that the school environment can be a source of both support and stress for
young people. I work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to
create a comprehensive support system. By being present in the school setting,
I can provide immediate assistance to children dealing with academic pressure,
bullying, or social issues, helping them thrive both academically and
emotionally.
Taking the first step to better mental health is paramount.
I am here to walk alongside children and their families as they navigate the
often-complex landscape of mental health challenges. My goal is to empower
young people to understand their emotions, build resilience, and develop the
skills they need to lead fulfilling lives.
At The Heart and Mind Hub, I am dedicated to fostering a
supportive community where every child feels valued and heard. Together, we can
cultivate a brighter future, one step at a time.
