She has a particular interest in helping her counselling clients build personal resilience, self-empowerment, self-confidence, and stronger and more harmonious marriages and relationships – for a happier and healthier life.
Having achieved her goals in her business life, she left the corporate world in her 50s, to pursue Professional Counselling: she wanted to help people with their life and mental health challenges, to help them enhance their mental wellbeing and achieve a happier and healthier life.
Sometimes we feel weighed down and thrown out of balance. Avis believes that with some help we can have the weight lifted and balance restored in our lives.
Her Counselling Approach
Avis uses a Client-centred Customised Eclectic Approach: this approach involves combining counselling techniques drawn from different evidence-based counselling modalities to develop an intervention most suited to the client’s specific needs and goals. Her approach draws on Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) and Solution-focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
Her Counselling Clients enjoy working with her because:
She is mature, experienced, trustworthy, professional, organised and helped improve their lives with her intervention methods. Avis is very international and is sensitive to a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and issues, having been to over 20 countries in the last 30 years, and having lived in Singapore, Australia, the UK, France and Switzerland. She is adept at and very comfortable with interacting with a wide spectrum of people, young and older: from CEOs, business professionals and young executives, to homemakers, seniors and students.
