Colin Drew

Colin has served in both the British and Australian Air Force’s as a senior manager and retired as a Wing Commander in 2005 having completed 37 years service. He has served in numerous overseas locations including Norway, Denmark, France Germany, USA, Gibraltar, Malta, Malaya, Cyprus, and many others too. As a personnel manager with Defence personnel constantly deploying both interstate and overseas Colin was responsible for the emotional, physical, educational and moral wellbeing of his staff and had a great deal of direct involvement in family issues including Loss and Grief, Domestic Violence, Relationship breakdowns, Suicide, child abuse and many other such sensitive interpersonal and family issues. Since leaving the Defence Force Colin has been a counsellor for Child Sex Abuse survivors and also acted as a Trainer and Assessor for Lifeline Australia conducting Lifeline Counsellor training, DV, ASIST and MH workshops at Certificate III and IV level. Colin’s qualifications include an Advanced Diploma of Personnel and Operations Management, a Diploma in Professional Counselling, a Diploma of Government Management, a Graduate Certificate in Defence Studies and a Graduate Diploma in Computer Engineering. Colin always tries to draw out the best in people and cares deeply about the welfare of others. Colin’s outside interests include being a Team Leader with Operation Flinders and Drug-Arm which are programs for youth at risk, being a volunteer with the local Salvation Army drop-in centre, and keeping fit. He completed the Kokoda track recently and a sailing trip aboard the Tall Ship ‘One-and-All’ with Operation Flinders PGMs. Colin has a recreational pilots liscence and regularly flies out of Gawler. Colin is married to Jenny and they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They have two grown up sons and one grandchild. Colin is also a Justice of the Peace for South Australia. Colin leads a full life!
