I am passionate about helping people create better lives for themselves, and combine my practice as a counsellor and clinical supervisor with my role as an academic on ECU’s online accelerated Master of Counselling course.I use a primarily person-centred trauma-informed approach combined with elements of other evidence-based therapies as appropriate to the client’s needs/preferences. These include but are not limited to psychodynamic approaches, CBT, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Polyvagal theory.I work with individuals 15 and above with a range of emotional difficulties, including anxiety and depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, building self-esteem and confidence, goal setting and planning, life transitions, study and workplace stress and anxiety. The quality of the relationship between counsellor and client is key to therapeutic success, so I speak to every potential client before the first appointment to give you a chance to see if you think we’ll connect. If I don’t think that I am ethically the most appropriate counsellor for you I will try to recommend a suitable alternative/specialist.Similarly, the effectiveness of clinical supervision is dependent on the strength supervisory alliance. I offer a warm and personalised approach, based on over 30 years of mentoring experience.I operate from my home counselling room in Burns Beach. Appointment times are flexible. Telehealth is available.Carpe Diem means “seize the day” and my intention is to help you do just that.
