Dámaris is a registered counsellor by the Australian Counselling Association and a registered psychologist from Barcelona, Spain. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Psychology by the Ramon Llull University of Barcelona and a Postgraduate Specialist Degree in Expressive Therapies and Interdisciplinary Art Therapy by the European University of Valencia. She is also trained in Systemic Family Therapy by the Systemic Institute of Barcelona (ISBA) in collaboration with the Mental Research Institute of Palo Alto. Dámaris is in constant formation and currently is interested in neurodiversity, functional diversity, psychoimmunoneuroendocrinology, positive parenting and last researches and papers in neuroscience, whiles she is currently doing a double Master in child development and ASD.
Dámaris is a multilingual (English, Spanish, Catalan), worldly travelled person who has lived in different parts of world such Barcelona, Spain; London, UK; Los Angeles, California, USA; and currently live in Melbourne Australia.
Dámaris is the founder and director of Ikigai Seeds as a result of more than a decade of therapeutic practice working with a diverse range of clients including children, adults, women, families and the elderly, from different cultures and languages, socio-economic status, level of education, beliefs and religions.
Damaris has experience working as school psychologist doing behaviour and cognitive assessments, individual curriculum plans and therapy for children 3-16 years. She usually works in collaboration with families, teachers and other external agencies and professionals.
In the last years, Dámaris has been facilitating individual counselling and art therapy sessions, and also running emotional and social skills groups using a variety of different mediums such expressive and art therapy, building bricks and lego, spontaneous play, or counselling groups to help clients develop a variety of skills, increasing self-esteem, empowerment, wellbeing, and improving emotional and social skills.
Dámaris also has experience working in public and private hospitals with multidisciplinary teams. She has worked in Systemic Family Therapy with a wide range of presentations and also supported patients experiencing a variety of illnesses, mostly oncological, and severe life crisis.
