Dr Judith Ayre- Master Therapist, Specialist in Process Experiential/Emotion-Focused
Therapy
With 30 years of experience as a counsellor, I am a master
therapist specialising in Process-Experiential and Emotion-Focused Therapy
(EFT), a modality I have studied, practiced, and refined for over three
decades. My clinical Doctorate in Emotion-Focused Therapy has given me a profound
understanding of the therapeutic process, particularly in the unravelling of
trauma and the restoration of emotional well-being.
I take a holistic approach to healing, integrating mind
(cognition), body (somatic awareness), spirit (soul needs and meaning), and
emotions (core emotional experience) to support profound personal
transformation. My work is deeply informed by attachment theory, identity
formation, and the development of self-agency, guiding you toward a greater
alignment with Self, increased self-compassion, and the ability to authentically
engage with emotions.
A key aspect of my approach is working with multiple parts of
the self, helping restore self-compassion and alignment with your
personal and soul values. Through this process, you can gain a deeper
understanding of your inner conflicts, access greater self empowerment, and
cultivate a more integrated sense of self.
While I specialise in deep therapeutic work, my
approach is highly adaptable and can be modified for EAP work, short-term difficulties, and work-related
concerns, providing effective, focused interventions for challenges such as
workplace stress, professional transitions, and interpersonal difficulties.
As a long-time mindfulness practitioner, I incorporate
present-moment awareness and embodied emotional processing, supporting you
in uncovering core emotional truths and moving toward lasting healing and
integration. I specialise in working with trauma, attachment wounds, and
identity needs, to help you to reconnect with your inner resources and
develop a deep sense of self-trust and emotional resilience.
In addition to my clinical work, I have been entrusted
to pass on my knowledge to hundreds of counselling students, and have supported the shaping of two
generations of counsellors. I have served as a lecturer at La Trobe University, a
senior lecturer and Head of Faculty of Counselling at Phoenix Institute, Academic lead at the Institute for Emotion Focused Therapy and the Head of School at both the Ikon
Institute of Australia and ACAP.
I am committed to therapeutic depth, transformation,
and the restoration of emotional wholeness, providing a space where you
can navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, meaning, and
self-understanding.
