As a counsellor, I have had the privilege of supporting both
adults and young people across various settings, including private practice and
Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). My experience spans a wide range of issues
affecting adults, including anxiety, stress, workplace challenges, anger
management, and grief and loss. I understand that these challenges can often
feel overwhelming, which is why I strive to create a safe and supportive
environment where individuals feel comfortable sharing their experiences and
concerns.
In my work with adults, I focus on providing tools and
strategies to help them navigate their difficulties. Whether they are grappling
with stress from work or dealing with emotional pain from loss, my aim is to
foster an atmosphere of trust and understanding. I believe that open
communication is crucial, and I encourage my clients to express their thoughts
and feelings without fear of judgment. This approach not only helps to build
rapport but also facilitates deeper insights into their issues, empowering them
to find clarity and resilience.
Working with young people presents unique challenges, and I
have addressed various issues such as bullying, self-harm, depression, and
anxiety in this demographic. I recognize that today’s youth face pressures that
are often different from those experienced by previous generations, including
social media influences and heightened academic expectations. Therefore, I am
committed to providing tailored guidance and support that resonates with their
individual experiences. I take the time to understand each young person’s
perspective, ensuring that my approach is as unique as they are.
I firmly believe in the importance of empowerment in the
therapeutic process. My goal is not just to help individuals cope with their
challenges but to equip them with the skills and confidence needed to navigate
life's difficulties independently. Whether I’m working with an adult facing
workplace pressures or a teenager dealing with personal struggles, I aim to
foster a sense of agency in my clients. This involves helping them identify
their strengths, set achievable goals, and develop coping strategies that will
serve them well beyond our sessions together.
