Freya gained a Diploma in Counselling from the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors with advanced study majors in child development and effective parenting, abuse counselling and counselling clients with addictions. With a thirst for learning, she has also commenced a Masters in Counselling from the University of Canberra (due for completion in June 2025).She is passionate about positive psychology including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT) which focus on the here and now, empowering us all to be able to think, feel and behave differently. Counselling with Freya is always empathetic, non-judgemental and caring but also focuses on helping clients to make positive changes and live a more fulfilling life. Freya came to counselling later in life after working for over 15 years in Corporate Australia including high flying roles at ASX100 companies, where she gained over 10,000 hours of coaching, mentoring and leadership experience. She held high-pressure jobs leading large teams and multi-million dollar projects when she decided she wanted more in life. She was always drawn to roles where she could make a difference such as rolling out Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse support for a large bank, facilitating leadership, change and personal development training programs and coaching and mentoring over 100 people from diverse backgrounds, abilities and cultures. Despite this, she had a desire to do more to directly help people, especially mothers with mental health and wellbeing, having seen so many mothers struggle to 'do it all'.As a counsellor, Freya brings not only the professional accreditations and qualifications of a counsellor, but also this incredible life experience, in real world corporate Australia, as well as her own experiences as a mother trying to "do it all". In Freya you are guaranteed empathy and listening without judgement from someone that truly gets it.
