Gerlinde is a highly qualified and skilled clinical practitioner. She works in collaboration with her clients to foster choice and empowerment. Her work is grounded in Humanistic Philosophy and Systems Theory and she works from the unassailable position of hope. Each of us have the intrinsic power of healing and change, i.e. our innermost core is always intact. She sees her role as encourager and guide on the person’s chosen and self-paced path towards their preferred life. Gerlinde creates high levels of non-judgement, safety, care, integrity and confidentiality. Her style has been described as creative and unique, warm, caring, kind, direct and playful.
Gerlinde has worked in the field of addiction with both adults and families, who were facing intersectional disadvantages and challenges in a diversity of areas including homelessness, anger management, Mental Health, family violence, discrimination, childhood and intergenerational trauma, Alcohol & Other Drugs, systems abuse and contact with the statutory Child Protection system. She has worked therapeutically with children, young people and their families who had fled war and torture, with children of Primary School age, and with young people in residential care as well as a reflective practice consultant and trainer for youth workers in outreach and residential care.
Gerlinde integrates science-informed knowledges and methods, such as the interpersonal neurobiology of trauma, attachment and addiction theories, acceptance & commitment therapy, solution-focused therapy, internal family systems therapy, somatic experiencing, creative arts- and play-based therapy into her family therapy framework.
Gerlinde offers Radical Exposure Tapping (RET), a form of exposure therapy that draws from the methodology of EMDR and combines it with imagery rescripting and the Tapping technique of the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). RET can be effective in a single session.
