Compassion, a deep love for people in all their diversity and imperfection and a desire to make a difference underpin my interest in being a counsellor. My life experiences and skills are highly transferable, particularly in the area of working with young people. I have had a varied career, collecting many skills along the way including teaching, project management, budget counselling, research, tutoring, stake holder management, change management processes, policy writing and marketing. I am committed to empowering clients to find their inner strength, to learn new strategies and ways of thinking as they navigate the challenges they are experiencing. My philosophy is that we all have the resources we need both within and around us to create the life we seek. Through exploring areas of concern, focusing on values and strengths, I help clients to create the conditions for change which will lead them towards a richer, more meaningful life. I use a client centred, strengths based approach, employing a range of evidence based models of counselling including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Mindfulness. My passion is in helping clients to make genuine and long lasting change for greater understanding, peace and wellbeing.
