Helen Brereton

Helen is the co-founder of The Courageous Man. She is a registered Psychotherapist (Gestalt), Group Facilitator (Yalom & Gestalt) and a Certified Couples Therapist with the Relational Life Institute (Terry Real). She also holds a Master’s degree in International Social Development from the University of NSW.Helen has spent over 1,000 hours working with men in groups, individually and couples. She brings over seven years’ experience as a group facilitator of Men’s Behaviour Change Groups and has completed a ‘Graduate Certificate in Men’s Behaviour Change - Individual and Group-work Interventions’.Helen is passionate about supporting healthy and respectful relationships between men and women. She is an advocate for breaking the rigid dichotomy of gender roles, so we are all free to become who we really are. Helen is also passionate about supporting men to be present as fathers and equals as parents. She is passionate about raising her own two teenage children.Prior to training as a psychotherapist, Helen spent over a decade working in the gender equality policy arena for the United Nations (UN) in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Vietnam, and across the Pacific region.Her style is warm, gentle, and direct. She can be deeply loving and challenging all in the same breath.
