My counselling approach is a holistic one, based on compassion, self-awareness, and a deep understanding of how life’s challenges affect the whole person. Holistic counselling takes a comprehensive approach to one’s overall well-being, and encourages balance and harmony across all facets of life. It promotes self-awareness, growth, and empowerment.
In addition to my work as a holistic counsellor, I can support clients with disabilities; and individuals, their families and caregivers at all stages of the dementia journey.
I am currently undertaking studies in the area of Dementia Care through the University of Tasmania’s The Wicking Dementia Centre. Since dementia affects everyone differently, counselling can support clients in gaining a deeper understanding of dementia and its impact, in developing coping strategies to manage stress and emotions, and in planning for the future by setting goals and accessing practical support services.
I can also work with plan-managed and self-managed NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) participants whilst ensuring alignment with their specific plans and goals. Counselling offers significant benefits to NDIS participants by providing emotional support, helping with goal setting, improving communication skills, and developing coping strategies and awareness of behavioural patterns. It can aid in improving self-advocacy and social skills, bring about an understanding of individual strengths, and build resilience and capacity. In supporting their overall wellbeing, counselling can assist NDIS participants in becoming more independent and autonomous.
