I am a counsellor/psychotherapist with a passion in providing a safe and welcoming space to clients where they can fully express themselves. I was a journalist, real estate sales executive, and a teaching assistant before becoming a therapist. It is with these professions that I have developed good interpersonal and communication skills with people from all walks of life and diverse cultural backgrounds. I have a Masters of Counselling and gained my experience in counselling adolescents as a student wellbeing worker in a secondary school. I believe in a combination of a directive, non-directive, and holistic approach to counselling, and emphasise on the importance of client autonomy, empowerment, and the therapeutic (client-counsellor) relationship in determining the successful outcomes of my clients' growth and development in becoming resilient individuals. I take an integrative approach to adolescent and adult counselling/psychotherapy using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Exposure Therapy (ET), and Assertiveness Training for a variety of issues including stress, depression, anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, self-esteem, addictions, relationship issues, anger management, and life transitions.- Trained in both individual and group counselling.- Experienced in face-to-face counselling and online counselling (audio calls, video calls, and text chats).- Experienced in providing counselling support to vulnerable and at-risk secondary school students during the Covid-19 global health crisis.- Developed and implemented an evidence-based Group Assertiveness Training Programme for Year 7s in easing their transition stress from primary to secondary school and as a preventative measure in preventing and reducing bullying, aggression, victimisation, school disengagement and refusals, poor academic performance.
