I would like to introduce myself; my name is Josie Vairy and I am a degree qualified Counsellor with over 6 years of experience working with complex needs supporting individuals, youth and families through advocacy, case management and therapeutic assessment, planning interventions. I currently live in Batemans Bay to continue my career as a trauma-informed practitioner/caseworker.After spending much of my career in many different areas of family intervention care, counselling and case management, I feel a true sense of purpose and motivation in creating a safe, inviting, and personalized service to support families and young people. I thrive in being a part of a team that provides a service dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for all the diverse clientele needs.I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Counselling in 2018 and my Diploma in 2015. I now specialized in trauma support for families, and domestic violence and sexual assault therapy. I enjoy working from a systems approach and find using the different systems in place may be influential in determining a client’s goals and risk management assessment and planning. I have devoted 4+ years of my practice working with at-risk populations and underprivileged communities, working with young people and families, and the last 2 years as a fulltime specialist family counsellor in women and children refuge, on outreach and in clinical settings.Training in Evidence-Based Modalities and key licenses: I have training in the following modalities. I have a special interest in trauma-informed practice, attachment, developmental and case management and risk assessment frameworks. In my previous role as a specialist family, domestic violence and sexual assault counsellor, I had the opportunity to conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, therapeutic and trauma-informed formulations and treatment plans within a multidisciplinary team. I also have experience in working with high-risk domestic violence services and collaborating with clients in creating plans that support their individual goals for their safety and stabilisation needs. I feel these skills could add to the work with child protection and risk assessment stages of planning better outcomes for children and their families.Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about my background.
