I am known for my
warm and empathetic nature. With professional qualifications in general
counselling and specialty qualifications in bereavement counselling and 13
years professional experience I am able
to provide specialized therapy for those seeking counselling support.
I excel at building genuine rapport and relationships,
providing comprehensive and effective long-term support to clients. My area of
interest and expertise is supporting persons experiencing grief. I work with
all types of loss – be it expected through illness or disease or sudden and
unexpected, from a family member to a family pet to the intangible losses of
retrenchment/relationship breakdown/family estrangement or infertility. I have
extensive experience supporting persons and their family members (carers) with
living losses brought about by illness and disability and companioned individuals
and families through their access of Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD).
My counselling style is eclectic and person-centred, drawing
from various modalities such as psychodynamic, attachment theory, existential
therapy, mindfulness, somatic experiencing, and other evidence-based
approaches. This diverse skill set allows me to tailor therapy to meet each
individual's unique needs, ensuring a holistic and personalised approach to
their well-being.
