Lissa McIldowney

Lissa McIldowney has almost 12 years’ experience in
supporting adults and young people from diverse backgrounds to move through difficult
events and circumstances in a life-affirming way. Outside work hours she is an
emergency services volunteer, providing psychological first aid to disaster
survivors.
Lissa’s strengths-based, practical approach builds her
clients’ confidence in their ability to live around what happens to them in a
way that honours their individual values. As clients become clearer about what
is important to them, they are better able to understand their feelings and make
choices about their behaviour that help them to move forward.
Lissa believes that the way we think about and respond to
change, and particularly loss, has a significant impact on the quality of our
lives and the strength of our relationships. Drawing on her own lived
experiences and a range of evidence-based therapies, Lissa expertly guides each
client to map a path toward their own, unique “life wish”. Her
clients benefit from a range of modalities, tailored to their specific
therapeutic needs, including: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy; Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy; Solutions Focused Therapy; & Mindfulness.
