Registered Counsellor

Martha Dorman

Languages Spoken:

I have been working towards becoming a counsellor for many years by completing a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) and a Postgraduate in Counselling.  I have worked with children, families, rural communities and people living in isolation for many years and helped people when they have been at their most vulnerable. My counselling approach focuses on helping children, adolescents and adults identify and achieve their personal goals using solution focused therapies based on Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Narrative Therapy.   My main areas of interest are building resilience and self-esteem in young people and grief and loss counselling – not only through the loss of a loved one, but those losses we accumulate from childhood and throughout our lifespan that often resurface during times of stress.
