An experienced mature person that has worked hard to enable a
career change through studying and attaining a Bachelor of Social Science
(Psychology) degree and Postgraduate Diploma of Counselling. I am currently
adding to my credentials working at completing a Master of Counselling by the
end of 2024.
I am an empathetic listener that believes in constructive
conversation where listening and appropriate responses are critical. Takes a
collaborative approach to people’s problems by constructing solutions in
partnership with others by listening to other people’s perspectives.
I am passionate about helping people and giving back to my
community and offer people available and affordable counselling. I am
particularly interested in helping people through challenging times that involve reconnecting people with what matters to them most and work on re-establishing goals, values and morals that achieve good outcomes. I use a
collaborative approach towards solving problems using evidence based
theoretical interventions.
My approach to counselling is short term solution
focused therapy using and integrated approach based on CBT, ACT, DBT, Narrative
and Family Systems therapies. Because I
am offering affordable counselling, following an intake interview, I research
an approach that I think might suit the client, and work in collaboration with
the client to find solutions to problems that are causing them distress.
I have a keen interest and experience in working with adults experiencing symptoms of PTSD, relationship problems and anger issues and teens building resilience and goal setting.
