I started my career as an Early Intervention Behavioural Therapist. I will never forget all the wonderful things the amazing children (and their families) taught me about patience, perseverance, strength and communication.I've worked 1:1 supporting people with disabilities to overcome barriers in gaining meaningful employment; focusing on their strengths and abilities to contribute to the workforce through job coaching and mentoring, interview skills training, cover letter/resume writing and facilitating workshops in small-medium sized groups.Within the NDIS space, I have worked as Specialist Support Coordinator (complex case management) and Psychosocial Recovery Coach for the past 6 years. I support clients with a person centred and trauma informed approach to set goals and take achievable steps to increase independence and capacity build. During this time, I have counselled clients 1:1 and facilitated small recovery coaching groups that are centred around self-care practices and strategies, improving mental health and exploring mindfulness through different mediums such as art and journaling and sharing experiences.Currently, I manage a team of Support Coordinators and Psychosocial Recovery Coaches across Australia. I provide supervision to train and upskill Level 2s in preparation to take on specialist clients, and I still maintain a caseload of clients who need support 1:1 in decision making, accessing services, ongoing counsel and require regular support to navigate challenging life choices and scenarios.
