Merryl is a Level 4 Clinical Counsellor and Psychological Therapist in Private practice in Newcastle NSW. She is a Academic Supervisor in the Faculty of Education, University of Newcastle and a Lecture in the Faculty of Higher Education, Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (0-5 years) and Faculty of Community Service and Mental Health TAFENSW.

Merryl has undertaken research into early childhood teacher education and accreditation, child development and wellbeing and was a presenter at the 2018 International Early Childhood Symposium and the 2018 Australian Institute of Family Studies Conference, Melbourne.
Merryl has an extensive background and experience in children and human services, specifically in the area of education having worked with children, adolescents and families from different backgrounds, presenting diverse issues.
