At the heart of my work, I am committed to anti-oppressive, decolonial counselling practice, informed by narrative therapy, activist movements, decarceral feminism, the Alternatives to Suicide approach, and LGBTIQ+ lived experiences.
I have worked as a peer worker, counsellor, and group facilitator in hospital and community based settings. I've worked alongside people who have been given mental health diagnoses, who are responding to the effects of complex trauma and violence, displacement from family, land, culture or religion, who are navigating relationship (including polyamory) or identity issues, and grief and loss.
My passion is working alongside LGBTIQ+ individuals and communities, within which I hold membership as a queer, bisexual, gender fluid person. I have a keen awareness of culturally appropriate counselling support for trans and gender diverse populations, and understand the struggles and challenges people might face regarding discrimination and social injustice.
In my conversations with people, I am warm, non-blaming, compassionate and playful. I have experience collaborating with people who are sex workers, who are HIV positive, who have relationships with substances, or self-injury, who are responding to suicidal thoughts, and who have experienced, intimate, familial, institutional or state violence. I take a harm reduction approach and am interested in your preferred ways of relating to your self, your relationships, and the world around us.
I welcome collaboration with individuals, and couples/polycules, and seek to include people's chosen or biological family in meaningful ways.
Please get in touch to see how we might be able to work together :)
