Mohamad El-Assaad has extensive professional experience working as a counsellor and family therapist across a broad range of issues. A core component of his role at the Department of Human Services involved the supervision of case managers & service coordinators as well as supporting clients with mental illness and physical and intellectual disability. Mohamad support clients of all ages, including couples and family groups.Mohamad is dynamic, empathetic and passionate about providing copunselling that empowers his clients to make genuine and long-lasting positive change in their lives. For example if a client feels stuck in unhelpful or destructive patterns, Mohamad can assist them to develop a genuine awareness and understanding of their circumstances and options in moving forward. He is reflective, insightful and outcome focused - he supports clients with practical guidance and effective strategies to address their concerns. By being aware of and understanding reactions, accepting them and learning to modify them as necessary, real change and growth can take place. Mohamad is committed to helping his clients discover an aggreable and achievab way forward that improves psychological wellbeing, relationship, work and family life.Mohamad believes that each person's emotikonal response to a particular situation is uniquely complex, and is based on their own personal experience and life circumstances. He incorporates a number of counselling techniques into his practice, dependent on the individual therapeutic needs. Modalities that Mohamad uses include: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Systemic-Family Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Recovery-Oriented Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotional-Focused Therapy, Sensorimotor & Somatic Psychotherapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and EMDR.
