With a passion for youth development, I bring over 18 years of counselling experience to my practice. For the past five years, I have been working as a School Counsellor in the Northern Rivers of NSW. This experience has honed my unique ability to connect with adolescents and inspired me to expand my support beyond the scope of the school environment through private practice.Prior to my work as a School Counsellor, my professional experience encompassed a wide range of counselling settings. This includes individual and group counselling for teens and adults, inpatient psychiatric care for adolescents, addictions counselling, case management, rehabilitation counselling, and mental health advocacy in court. This diverse background equips me with a deep understanding of human behaviour and the various challenges individuals can face. Now, I focus on creating a supportive, judgment-free and trauma-informed practice for adolescents and young adults. I understand the complexities of growing up and am able to hold space for youth as they navigate the ups and downs of this transformative period. I believe my clients have the capacity for growth and positive change; I support them in discovering their inner strengths and resources.I use a person-centred approach, focusing on the needs of both the individual and the family unit. My personalised approach includes elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I help clients develop healthy coping mechanisms, navigate emotional challenges and build self-esteem. For parents, I offer guidance for healthier communication, co-regulation strategies, fostering trust and setting healthy boundaries. Ultimately, my goal is to help families rebuild strong connections and navigate this period of change together.
