Stuart Fisher

Stuart is an ACA (Level 4) Registered Clinical Counsellor graduating from the University of New England where he holds several degrees in Counselling, Psychology and Art Therapy. With decades of experience. Stuart is an authentic, compassionate, and supportive counsellor. He believes that empathy can change the world and that the people he works with deserve love and care. Recognising that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated. Professionally Stuart is passionate about working with people who have experienced any form of trauma, sexual abuse, violence in relationships, workplace bullying, grief & loss, and expected and unexpected life transitions. Stuart works through various theoretical orientations to accompany you within a safe relationship where you can explore your story and tell your narrative. Stuart will meet you where you are to help you find hope for positive change, no matter the feelings or the story you bring. Stuart’s counselling method draws on an eclectic generalist approach through various counselling modalities: humanistic, ethnic sensitive, narrative theories, DBT, Attachment, motivational interviewing, and solution, compassion and trauma-focused therapy interventions. Stuart’s goal is to help her clients see their strengths, build resilience, and create manageable goals. Moreover, he believes that positive changes can start by looking within ourselves. Throughout the counselling process, Stuart places an emphasis on building and strengthening a productive working relationship with his clients. Stuart approaches counselling holistically, recognizing the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. Creating treatment plans based on their needs and goals. These flexible road maps help the clients move from where they are now to where they want to go. During the therapeutic process, he infuses humour, empathy, acceptance, straight-forwardness, and compassion into his sessions. Consequently, Stuart offers a non-judgmental, accepting and safe space. Stuart appreciates all kinds of humour and believes laughter can be the best medicine. He enjoys working with adults and youth individually or as a couple’s counsellor.
