I have specialist skills and expertise in working with children and young people with disabilities and special needs and have undergone trauma-informed training. I also work with adults who need some support to manage difficult and challenging life experiences, including mental illness.I employ a range of trauma-informed flexible and creative interventions, which draw on play-based, experiential learning opportunities, integrating contemporary methodologies such as Play Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gestalt (relational practice) Psychotherapy, Equine and Animal Assisted Psychotherapy, Mindfulness-based practices and Somatic Experiencing techniques.Therapy sessions are offered in a rural setting and where possible, outside, in nature and we often engage the support of animals such as horses, birds, cats, and dogs, this adjunct to the Therapeutic process, offers not only psychological support to increase capacity, but also the opportunity to learn those skills needed to achieve goals in a way that is interesting and meaningful for the individual.
