I am a registered counsellor with a postgraduate qualification in a Master
of Counselling. My background includes specialized training and practice in
grief, loss, and bereavement, coupled with a strong foundation in aged care
sector.
I have
completed extensive theoretical and practical training in evidence-based grief
literacy, enabling me to provide meaningful support to those in need.
With over 30 years of professional experience in diverse roles, I bring a
wealth of knowledge and understanding to my counseling practice. My career has
spanned a variety of sectors, giving me a comprehensive perspective on
community services, welfare, education, and media.
Since 2012, I have worked as a dedicated and experienced Case Manager in
Community Services in Australia, where I have been actively involved in
supporting individuals and families across different welfare sectors. My time
at organizations such as Monash Health, the Chinese Community Social Services
Centre Inc., the Salvation Army, Launch Housing, Immigrant Women’s Domestic
Violence, and Mackillop Family Services has allowed me to develop a deep
understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable populations, including
those impacted by family violence, child protection issues, and mental health
concerns.
My background also includes significant experience in China, where I worked
as a high school teacher, HR manager, office manager, and journalist. I spent
nine years as a news reporter and host of a news channel, which gave me an
in-depth understanding of communication, crisis management, and the power of
media in shaping public perceptions.
These diverse roles have greatly influenced my counseling approach, allowing
me to draw on both my professional experience and personal insights. I am adept
at providing culturally sensitive support, integrating my expertise in both
Western and Chinese cultures to connect with individuals from various
backgrounds. My varied background has also equipped me with strong
problem-solving and communication skills, enabling me to effectively guide
clients through their challenges while fostering resilience and well-being.
I approach counseling with empathy, respect, and a commitment to helping
clients navigate their personal journeys, providing them with the tools and
support they need to overcome obstacles and thrive.
