About me
Zara Kitchingman
"....building collaborative partnerships to live authentic, meaningful and fulfilled lives..."
Zara offers a safe, non-judgmental, and empathic space for you to share your story and work towards your goals. She has a strong interest in building collaborative partnerships to live authentic, meaningful and fulfilled lives. Her approach is client-centered and eclectic, meaning intervention is led by the client, where the counsellor will integrate and draw from different evidence-based counselling modalities tailored to meet the individual and their circumstances most effectively to address their personal needs, with an emphasis on collaboration and encouraging active participation.
Research has found that practising from a client-centered empathic approach to counselling that provides a safe, accepting relationship between the therapist and client is key to the process of client self-discovery and actualization. Zara believes that a strong focus on the client-therapist relationship is the basis for all therapeutic work, and integrating bottom-up approaches are particularly important when working with children.
Zara is a level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), holds a Cert. III in Early Childhood Education and Care from ACCCO, a Diploma in Counselling from the Australian Institute of Profession Counsellors with advanced majors in Abuse, Expressive therapies, and Relationship and Conflict Resolution Counselling. She is currently completing a Bachelor's degree in Psychological Science at the Australian Collage of Applied Professionals, is a Circle of Security-Parenting facilitator, and Triple P Level 3 Primary Care facilitator. Zara has experience in the fields of child protection, the (dis)ability sector, and in private practice dedicated to the prevention of harm, neuro-affirming therapeutic services, and personal growth, supporting individuals across the lifespan.
