Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Intensive will teach participants the Biosocial Therapy of Borderline Personality Disorder and the criteria for diagnosis in both DSM IV and V will be discussed. The Therapy description will be detailed and evidence of its success with BPD and other mental disorders will be discussed. Participants will learn the way DBT is framed in Dialectics, Validation and Acceptance strategies and the styles of communication with Therapists will be fully articulated. Pre-treatment committment and orienting strategies and therapists agreements will be discussed as well as the Stages and Targets of Treatment. Individual DBT Therapy techniques will be presented including 'Suicide Rise Assessment, phone coaching, chain analysis and use of diary cards'. The four skills of DBT will be taught and modelled over the last day of training

I am the founder of Expressive Therapy Clinic. I have completed a Graduate Diploma in Expressive Therapies and a Masters Degree in Art Therapy at the University of Western Sydney. I have worked as an Art Psychotherapist for many years in the fields of Disability, Addictions and Behavioural therapy. My passion is facilitating programs using a variety of modes of treatment with different client groups. In individual therapy sessions I help clients learn experientially through creativity alongside the skills taught in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and and other therapies. I have found over the last 10 years that this approach assists clients suffering symptoms of anxiety disorders, depression, behavioural issues, PTSD and specifically clients who suffer the traits of Borderline Personality Disorder. I have also worked as a consultant to Private Hospitals in Sydney providing these services. I have been trained as an Individual DBT Therapist through Marsha Linehans accredited trainers Behavioral Technologies LLC . I offer training sessions for other allied health practitioners in my field of speciality. I supervise Art Psychotherapists and Counsellors. I have lectured at the University of Western Sydney and supervised student placements. I have published an article on her work in Art Psychotherapy and DBT in the 2nd Edition of ANZJAT (Australia and New Zealand Journal of Art Therapy) on DBT and Art Psychotherapy. I have previously presented and run workshops at Conferences in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.? I am a level 4 Counsellor and have been involved with the establishment and criteria for the new College of Creative Arts Therapies within ACA. In the past 8 years I have trained over 1500 health care professionals. I also train staff at NGO's and health care agencies.
