Learning objectives To identify concepts and principles underling supervision.To increase participants’ ability to identify and apply arrange of theories motivational, power, learning, parallel processes, transference and counter transference, cognitive and emotional process, system theory. To increase participants’ understanding and ability to make an educational assessment incorporating application of theories of professional development stages and learning styles. To increase participants, understanding of the range of models of practice and to reflect on their own strengths and weaknesses arising out of their connections to the range of models. To heighten participants capacity to analyse new problems presented. Demonstrate and provide information on how to structure individual, peer and group supervision sessions. Develop skills to balance both administrative and clinical responsibilities.
Training Program DeliveryOur Trainers hold formal qualifications in Training and Assessment, Supervision and Counselling and/or Psychotherapy. The STEPPING- UP training program will be delivered over three days by experienced registered PACFA, ACA supervisors.Pre-workshop Minimum of 90 hours to read the text, plus write a 500-word essay and answer 20 questions.DAY 1 The first day focuses primarily on theory and is spent working through the STEPPING- UP workshop manuals & powerpoint presentation, with participants interaction and discussion.DAY 2 Reviewing ethical issues involved in Individual and group supervision case scenarios using Stepping UP question cards. Time is then spent, with students assessing and supervising sessions in triads, as preparation for the final day assessment phase.DAY 3 This is the formal assessment day where each student rotates through a triad rotating through the three positions of Supervisor, Assessor and Supervisee. Each position is completed over a 60-minute period.On successful completion of the training, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Attainment in Group & Individual Professional & Clinical Supervision.Outline of the assessment tasks that participants are required to undertake.Elements E1. Reading of the textbook, the “Practice of clinical & Professional Supervision plus answer 20 questions from the textbook. Participants to write a 500-word as reflective review of the textbook.E2. a. 5 supervision scenarios discussed supervision question card on Ethical and Conduct issues. b. Viewing individual and group supervision PowerPoints, Reading and discussing of the Supervisor & Leadership roles” 110-page manual and “Group supervision” manual 40 pages. c. Practice triads roles played as supervisor, supervisee, and observer for 1/2-hour practice session in preparation of the final assessment.Triads for assessment, roles played as supervisor, supervisee, and observer for 1-hour session.This training gives you 10 hours of OPD and 6 hours of supervision and meets part of the criteria for membership to the ACA College of Supervisors.
