The STS training program “Certificate of Attainment in Individual & Group Clinical / Professional Supervision” training is made of three elements of training.Training Outline:The aim of this course is to provide a framework for conducting and evaluating effective clinical supervision using a competency-based framework incorporating reflective practice. Participants will develop the skills to enhance supervisee learning and skill development, considering the systemic issues of their workplace/team and client group. Pre-course Training:As part of their pre-course study, each student will read the academic text The Practice of Clinical and Counselling Supervision”, 2017 Pelling and Armstrong. This text lays the foundation for the three-day workshop. Students will be required to complete a minimum 500-word summary relating to the contents of the textbook, plus, answer 20 questions relating to the book. This provides each student with a broad theoretical understanding of the different settings and theories of Supervision. It is recommended that students allocate a minimum of 90 hours to read the text and answer the questionnaire. view video and answer 20 questions relating to the video. Participants will receive 2 manuals on day 1 of their 3 -day workshop.

3-day face-to-face classroom work broken into two phases:a. Face-to-face training including, PowerPoint, lectures, interactive group work and practice Supervision sessions.b. Formal assessment of Supervision including critiquing a Supervision session, being a Supervisee and delivering a formal Supervision session as a supervisor.Note: Formal assessments are conducted in real time, face to face in front of a qualified registered PACFA, ACA, ASCH and AHA Supervisor’s, qualified Presenter and Trainers. All students are to bring relevant issues for supervision to the training. The STS training program will be delivered over three days by experienced registered PACFA, ACA,ASCH supervisors.Pre-workshop Minimum of 88 hours to read the text, plus write a 500-word essay and answer 20 questions.DAY 1 The first day focuses primarily on theory and is spent working through the STS workshop manuals & power point presentation with participants interaction and discussion.DAY 2 Reviewing ethical issues involved in Individual and group supervision Time is then spent, with students assessing and supervising 30-minute sessions in triads, as preparation for the final day assessment phase.DAY 3 This is the formal assessment day where each student rotates through a triad rotating through the three positions of Supervisor, Assessor and Supervisee. Each position is completed over a 60-minute period.On successful completion of the training, participants will be issued with a “Certificate of Attainment in Group & Individual Supervision”Outline of the assessment tasks that participants are required to undertake.Elements E1. Reading of the textbook, the “Practice of clinical & Professional Supervision plus answer 20 questions from the textbook. Participants to write a 500 word as a reflective review of the textbook.E2. a. 5 supervision scenarios discussed, supervision question card on Ethical and Conduct issues. b. Viewing individual and group supervision PowerPoints, Reading and discussion of the Supervisor & Leadership roles” 114-page manual and “Group supervision” manual 40 pages. c. Practice triads session in preparation of final assessment.Triads for assessment, roles played as supervisor, supervisee, and observer for 1-hour session.
