The Imago Clinical Module 1 training is held Online via Zoom. This training not only equips you with advanced skills in couples therapy but also leads you towards a prestigious certification in Imago Relationship Therapy. There are three modules and the first  module beginning on 4th Feb 2025 runs for 2 engaging hours weekly spread over 16 weeks. Renowned Imago Therapists Nedra Fetterman, Gene Shelley and Kobus van Der Merwe will be providing expert instruction. We also offer a Super Early Bird fee $1400 payable by 30th November 2024, as well as an early bird fee $1496 payable by the 4th January. Offered entirely online and accessible globally, this program is tailored for therapists who are eager to excel in their practice and profoundly impact couples’ lives.

    • Discuss that relational impact of developmental stages, unmet needs and character adaptations
    • Explain the role of neurobiology in conflict and connection
    • Discuss how lost, denied and shadowed parts of the self impact attraction, partner selection and conflict
    • Discuss the role of the “Imago match” in attraction, partner selection, and conflict
    • Use tools to manage our own reactivity and challenging feelings that arise when working with couples
    • Apply Imago theory and the concepts above to your personal journey in relationships

Nedra Fetterman Gene Shelley Kobus van Der Merwe

Presenter Qualifications:

Nedra Fetterman, PhD is a licensed psychologist, a faculty member of the International Imago Training Institute and is a Clinical Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. In her private practice, she has worked with individuals and couples since 1982 and has spent the past decade focused on what it means to live and love mindfully. Nedra is a longtime Imago therapist and presenter of The Getting the Love You Want Workshop. She is well known for her practical wisdom and her warm, engaging teaching style. Living From Your Deepest Core and Blueprints For Wholeness and Growth are her most recent workshops that have been presented in Philadelphia, New York, Washington and Vancouver.

Gene Shelly, M.Div. is a Pastoral Counselor and an Imago Therapist in private practice. He obtained his M.Div. from New Brunswick Theological Seminary and holds a certificate in Pastoral Psychotherapy from the Blanton-Peale Graduate Institute where he was a resident in a three- year psychoanalytic oriented intensive training program. He also has a certificate in Imago Relationship Therapy and is certified to present the Imago “Getting the Love You Want” couples workshops and is certified to train others in the Basic Clinical Training Program of Imago Therapy. From 1986 to 1999 Gene was a member of the teaching and supervising faculty of the Blanton- Peale Graduate Institute. Since then, for the past 25 years, Gene has been primarily known for his work as a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist. Gene is a fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, an affiliate member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, a clinical member, a workshop presenter and clinical instructor of Imago Relationships International. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Imago Relationships International, Inc. and is the past-chair of the Board.

Kobus van der Merwe is a dedicated Imago International Faculty Member and certified Imago Relationship Therapist and workshop presenter based in South Africa. With a passion for helping couples and families, Kobus has spent his career honing his expertise in Imago Relationship Therapy. His experience and training have allowed him to assist therapists in South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and Europe. In recognition of his exceptional work, he received the Harville Hendrix Award for Clinical Excellence in 2016.

Registration Instructions:

The trainee will work with couples in a clinical setting and be qualified and allowed by law to clinical work depending on the state, province, or country of their residence.
