Module 1: Understand the definition of childhood trauma. Explore fight, flight, freeze response. Working with ACES’s.*Reflective practice – how to educate parents about the presentation of trauma. Module 2: Explore five different frameworks and approaches to working with childhood trauma.*Reflective Practice: Exploring preferred approaches and preferences to working with age groups. Working with parents. Child/therapist session examples.*Reflective Practice: Design a rapport building game for use with children. Identify the 6 stages of play. Working with teens. Mandatory reporting. Case study Quiz
Module 3:Understand the importance of working with parents/carers. Information gathered during intake sessions.  *Reflective Practice: Design an parent/child intake sheet. Identify the different types of attachment. The importance of boundaries.*Reflective Practice: Exploring childhood attachment and impact of positive/negative attachment. Working with parentification. Module 4: Challenges therapists may face. Understand the difference between vicarious trauma and burn out. Transference and counter transference. Laura has previously worked in the UK as a school counsellor. For the past 11 years she has worked in Queensland as a specialist child trauma counsellor. Laura also works with adults and runs her own private practice.
