This short course is designed to provide health care professionals, social workers, educators, and anyone involved in supporting individuals who have experienced or are experiencing grief and loss.
You will gain an understanding of what grief and loss are, how it affects individuals and communities, and the best practices for supporting people experiencing grief and loss.
Key Learning Objectives / Outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Recognise and React:Â Identify reactions to loss and grief, taking into account diverse social, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds.
- Engage Empathically:Â Develop skills in empathetic interaction, using appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication to meet emotional needs.
- Offer Support and Information:Â Provide effective support and accurate information about grief and bereavement services, referring individuals to further help when necessary.
- Self-Care:Â Monitor and manage personal stress levels and seek supervision and debriefing to prevent burnout.
- Continuous Improvement:Â Reflect on the support provided and identify opportunities for improvement in practices and outcomes.
