My career in health commenced in the 1980’s working as a Registered Nurse in psychiatry. During Sydney’s AIDS crisis I spent almost a decade specialising in the treatment of people living with the disease. Later, I branched out in areas such as oncology and surgical nursing. I am a registered member of AHPRA (Registered Nurse). In 2013 I chose to focus on counselling as a career. I completed a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Counselling (ACU) and commenced working as a drug and alcohol counsellor and DBT group therapist. I have worked as a Transgender counsellor and a Substance support counsellor for the LGBTI community. I have worked most recently in Aboriginal health as a drug and alcohol/ trauma counsellor. In my practice I utilise the models of CBT, DBT, mindfulness, humanistic, trauma informed and psychodynamic counselling. I treat individuals and groups with various mental health disturbances and conflicts. I have a well-rounded knowledge of human suffering and a keen understanding of how medication and disease affect the human mind and spirit. In September 2020 I completed my accreditation certificate to become a professional clinical and group supervisor, I am a member of the ACA College of Supervisors. As a supervisor I work with nurses, counsellor's and other health practitioners using The Rise-Up Model of professional individual and group supervision. I offer counselling services online via Skype, Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Please e-mail me for further information regarding my practice and service.
