GradDip.Counselling; BPsych; BATheol.  In private practice (Charis Counselling) – Bunbury, Augusta, Margaret River.   I work within a person-centered approach to counselling with the relationship being the core of my counselling practise. I draw on a variety of therapeutic modalities (including psychotherapy, narrative, play, CBT, and mindfulness approaches) to best meet the individual needs of my clients. My strengths are deep listening, reflection and the use of the therapeutic relationship to holistically create the space for my clients to gain the best possible outcomes from their counselling. I am also an accredited Professional Supervisor with Supervision WA and can provide supervision using a reflective style of supervision. I have experience in counselling adults, teenagers, and children dealing with issues relating to :- Depression, Relationship issues, Anger management, Anxiety, Trauma, Mental illness, Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Domestic Violence, Co-dependency, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Grief & Loss, Suicide, Self-esteem, Parenting, Spirituality, Spiritual Direction, and Stress. I have been involved in counselling roles for 25+ years. I began in the late 1970’s in voluntary Youth Work. In the 1990’s I spent 10 years in counselling roles in state high school Chaplaincy both in country and city senior high schools before taking on a supervisory role for state school Chaplains. In 2001 I coordinated a program for people with psychiatric illness for 3 years. In 2004 I returned to Murdoch University to complete my Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Theology part-time. I completed a Diploma of Spirituality for Ministry at Dayspring WA in 2004/2005. In 2009 I worked for 2 years as a Family Counsellor in the Wheatbelt (WA) prior to moving to Bridgetown in 2010. In 2012 I returned to Murdoch University and graduated with a Post Graduate Certificate of Counselling and in 2013 graduated with a Post Graduate Diploma of Counselling.  In 2014 I worked as a co-facilitator for Pathways Criminal Conduct and Substance Abuse Treament Program at Bunbury Prison.  In 2015 I completed my Advanced Training Course in Professional Supervision with Supervision WA. In 2015 I worked for Community Training Australia training students in the Diploma of Counselling course. I do contract counselling for Cancer Council WA and for several EAP Providers.    I am married with two adult sons and a daughter in law and have spent most of my life in the country involved in farming, youth work, pastoral care and counselling roles. I work under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.   I am also available for counselling or supervision via Zoom.
