Matthew is a Psychotherapist working in the Riverina in Southern NSW. With specialities in working with young people and adolescents with trauma and attachment difficulties, adults with severe trauma and personality issues as well as the co-morbid and complex systemic presentations these conditions present within families and communities. With 10 years’ clinical experience in the field he covers varying roles:Trauma clinician for Murrumbidgee PHN Snowy Valley Bushfire Recovery.Adolescent clinician with Victoria Department of Education.ACA Accredited NSW Victims Services Counsellor (5 years).Member of ACA College of Supervisors.Part-time private practice-trauma, adolescents, children.Matthew holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling & Applied Psychotherapy through the Jansen Newman Institute whilst also finishing a Social Work Degree. This provides a flexible and adaptive style of therapy that aims to meet a client’s needs whilst being underpinned by the latest research in cognitive and affective neuroscience of trauma.Matthew has attended training Australia wide as well as in the USA and the Anna Freud Centre in London, in the UK.Using a mix of modalities that are underpinned by attachment theory and cognitive-affective neuroscience of the mind and body. This offers a Mentalization based approach to treatment.Supervision is further supported in assisting the clinician in developing these skills further in 2 approaches that a supervisee may choose for their needs:Supervision for setting up private practice or entering the workforce for graduate and seasoned counsellors and psychotherapists.Supervision to develop and enhance clinical skills in working therapeutically with complex presentations and trauma-with adolescents and adults.Having relocated 5 years ago from Sydney and setting up and maintaining a private practice whilst working and leading in regional counselling professions, he provides a depth of both practical and academic experience.
