Counsellor and Counselling SupervisorHello, my name is Pamela Mitchell. In private practice, I am both a Counsellor and a Counselling Supervisor. Formally residing in the foothills of Adelaide I have recently relocated to the inner southern suburb of Clarence Park, where there is ease of parking, bus routes, schools and shops.I have been in private practice since 1991. I am a:Level 4 Member - Australian Counselling Association (ACA)Member - College of Supervisors, ACA Member - College of Clinical Counsellors, ACAMy qualificationsinclude:Masters of Counselling (MCouns) Graduate Diploma Counselling (Spts Psych)Professional Supervisor accreditationLevel 3 EFT PractitionerAs a Counsellor…I work with individuals, couples and families in a diverse range of life issues including, but not limited to:Relationship IssuesAnxiety and DepressionGrief and LossTrauma and Post Traumatic StressChronic Health supportProfessional BurnoutLack of Confidence and Low Self EsteemDecision Making and Goal SettingFrom young teenagers through to mature aged persons, my focus is always centered on working together with my clients to identify blocks, understand and support them through challenges and concerns, and to help them select preferred outcomes possible in their lives. This work of course can only prosper when an environment of confidentiality and trust is in place. Only then will people know they can be heard with genuine regard and feel safe enough to unpack what is on their minds. When this occurs, ideas and options can be explored, strategies and skills developed, and plans for change can evolve. As a Supervisor… I work with individual Counsellors, and I work with groups of Counsellors from organisations who provide counselling services to their clients. My preference in Supervision is to meet and work face to face, but for clients in country or interstate locations, we connect via Face Time.My style is to build a partnership that provides open and helpful exchange, encourages and recognises growth, and places attention on specific needs, all with an empathetic and supportive regard. Equally, emphasis is placed on the management of self care and exploring challenging life constructs that may blur boundaries, transference and countertransference in client engagement.Access to additional references and resources that may be of benefit are always discussed and/or provided wherever possible and appropriate. Extra curricular…Pam’s range of services beyond her consulting room have included voluntary counselling duties for the Southern Adelaide Palliative Services, lecturing at the University of South Australia in Communication studies for post graduate students, current live to air regular health and lifestyle spokesperson on radio for fifteen years to date, and completion of a three year contract serving on the South Australian Parole Board. To that end, she is also a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Client testimonial extracts… She helped me open my mind to new possibilitiesThis was valuable to have this time for meI found the courage to deal with my difficult situationI found new energy that I had not experienced for a very long timeI was able to face dealing with my grief I actually discovered that I like myself better!
