Peter Byers

Peter graduated from the Australian College of Applied Psychology in 2004. Since then he has completed the Advanced Practitioner Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis from the Academy of Applied Hypnosis. Besides his own private practice on the Central Coast of NSW, Peter has worked extensively in the community with many people whose lives, and the lives of those close to them, have been effected by crisis, trauma and abuse, addictions, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, anxiety, stress and other physical and mental health difficulties. He was employed by Lifeline Australia on the Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault National Helpline from 2004-10. During that time Peter was also employed as counsellor for males & community development with Aboriginal Catholic Social Services (formerly Aboriginal Catholic Ministry, Penrith) in Western Sydney from 2005 - 08. He worked with people individually and in groups specializing in anger management, alcohol & other drug issues, family & relationships therapy, youth work, conflict resolution, suicide intervention and crisis management. Peter also provided advocacy and outreach counselling services for those with serious mental health issues, as well as court support, home and prison visits. Since 2008 Peter has been employed as a counsellor on the Cannabis Information & Helpline and the Way2Wellness at Lifeline Harbour2Hawkesbury, and with Rural Aid and ARAFMI Hunter where he supports the families and friends of people with a mental illness. Peter is now a Member of the ACA College of Supervisors and is qualified to provide Clinical Supervision.
