Pete Ekstedt is the founder of Ekstedt Consulting, a specialist counselling, coaching and consulting practice dedicated to the needs of business & community leaders, creative entrepreneurs and busy professionals. Prior to establishing his counselling practice, Pete spent almost six years as CEO of a start-up charity dedicated to the needs of rural school leavers. Before that, Pete spent two decades working for major global corporations in the insurance, banking and IT sectors where he held a broad range of senior roles in marketing, business operations and executive communications. During his corporate career Pete led major initiatives (and provided key advice to managing directors and vice-presidents) pertaining to leadership communications, crisis communications, employee engagement, change management, business ethics and corporate social responsibility. Pete holds a masters degree in counselling from Monash University and additional postgraduate qualifications in education (RMIT University) and applied linguistics (Monash University). He has been certified to deliver entrepreneurship development programs by the Geneva based Micro-Enterprise Acceleration Institute (MEA-I) and social enterprise programs by the Australian Centre for Rural Entrepreneurship (ACRE). An experienced and engaging speaker, groupwork facilitator and educator, Pete has previously been awarded a prestigious Gold Quill Award for excellence in multi-audience communications by the International Association for Business Communications (IABC) and an Innovative Curriculum Award by the Australian Curriculum Studies Association. In 2021 Pete began teaching postgraduate counselling students at Deakin University, and took on a national leadership role in men's mental health and suicide prevention with the Movember Foundation. Pete enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenage sons, travel, music and a wide range of sports. For more information about Ekstedt Consulting, visit:
