Tanya is an ACA level 4 counsellor since 2006, qualified supervisor since 2021 and NDIS approved behaviour Support practitioner.
Tanya’s founding philosophies are based on:
1. All behaviour is happening for a reason – for lasting behaviour change to occur we need to address WHY the unwanted behaviours and patterns are occurring
2. Non preferred behaviour is typically preceded by anxiety with anxiety being a symptom presented from the body when it is in a part of life it does not perceive it has the required skills to respond to – the current presenting life lessons.
3. Life is one massive classroom with each person’s unique life lessons being presented second after second, minute after minute, day after day – our life lessons are here to be mastered when we choose to – once mastered a life lesson, our anxiety around that the life lesson disappears and thus so to do the accompanying array of unwanted behaviour patterns
4. My job, our job, is to make our job redundant by supporting people to feel equipped to attend to each and everyone one of their life lessons.
5. Thus counselling brings focus to supporting each person to develop the skills to change their own experience of life … thus the only person that changes ourself is ourself – we are the masters of our own classroom of life ?
