Sexually compulsive and addictive behaviour have become a common presenting problem for today's clinician, whether it emerges in the form of pornography addiction, use of “hook up” apps, or emerges as part of marital conflict. Michael Rooney will discuss the current state of the field of compulsive sexual behaviour disorder CSBD)  and internet pornography addiction, including the most up-to-date research and information on diagnosis, etiology, and initial stages of treatment.

Michael Rooney is a Level 4 Registered Counsellor & Supervisor (ACA); a Registered Clinical Psychotherapist (PACFA); and a  Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Certified Partner Trauma Therapist with the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). He is the owner of Intimacy Healing, a private psychotherapy and consulting practice. He is Melbourne based and also provides a worldwide online therapy private practice, with a focus on sexual addiction,pornography addiction, betrayal partner trauma and childhood trauma. He uses the Psychobiological Approach to Sexual Addiction treatment, using various techniques including assessment, cognitive behavioural therapy, affect regulation therapy, individual treatment, and groupwork
