I am a Masters qualified and experienced
counsellor with over 30 years practical experience in many various settings. I also possess a strong foundation in
evidence-based practices and a deep commitment to client-centred care. My
approach is informed by the biopsychosocial model, recognising the complex
interplay of psychological, biological, and social factors that contribute to
mental health and wellbeing. I draw on a range of therapeutic techniques,
including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed care, tailoring
interventions to meet each client’s unique needs and goals.
My practice is grounded in empathy,
non-judgement, and a strengths-based philosophy. I have worked with diverse
populations, including clients affected by PTSD, substance use disorders,
depression, and anxiety. I have a particular interest in working with veterans,
first responders, and individuals navigating high-pressure roles, using my
experience in resilience training and performance psychology to support mental
health in demanding environments.
I am skilled in risk assessment, safety
planning, and developing therapeutic alliances that foster growth and long-term
change. My ability to integrate psychoeducation, emotional regulation
strategies, and reflective listening helps clients build insight, increase
self-efficacy, and make empowered decisions. I have tertiary qualifications in
Exercise Physiology, Nutrition and hold a Master of Counselling.
