I am a trauma-informed, person-centred counsellor with over three years of experience supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. I specialise in creating safe, non-traditional therapeutic environments tailored to individual needs, including those impacted by childhood trauma, adult trauma, and general life stressors. My approach integrates evidence-based interventions and animal-assisted therapy to support healing.
My work is grounded in a deep understanding of the complexities of trauma therapy. I provide a safe, neutral, and flexible space where clients are supported to heal at their own pace. Through trauma-informed counselling approaches, we will explore personal challenges with acceptance and self-compassion, focusing on meeting individuals where they are.
Integrating Animal-Assisted Therapy into my practice helps create an calming, supportive therapeutic environment. Therapy animals, like my therapy dog Ruben, serve as a grounding and gentle presence, helping clients regulate emotions and engage more fully in sessions. Animal-Assisted Therapy has been particularly effective in trauma therapy, supporting nervous system regulation and offering comfort during emotionally challenging work.
I use a creative and collaborative counselling approach, drawing on modalities including animal-assisted support, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, psychoeducation, and trauma-informed practices. My aim is to make counselling accessible and comfortable—whether that means engaging through sensory tools, or creative expression activities, we will be working together as a team.
Although sessions are held in a consult room, I do my best to reduce the clinical feel. I incorporate elements such as sensory toys, games, and my therapy dog to support emotional safety and regulation.
I support individuals on their trauma recovery journey through a highly flexible and person-centred model. My focus is on helping clients build a sense of agency, develop self-awareness, and reconnect with themselves and others—always in a space that feels safe and affirming.
