Elmarie is an experienced Social Worker-turned-Counsellor who delivers counselling services to young people aged 12 years and older and all those young at heart. She welcomes working collaboratively on challenges like depression, anxiety, relationship issues, difficulties in social isolation and adjustment, identity issues, living with neurodivergence, and suffering loss, trauma and grief.
She is an integrated Systems Therapist who gives a high priority to being person-centred, and attachment and trauma-informed. Her 15-year experience as social worker and her Master of Counselling qualification allows her the use of many appropriate evidence-based therapeutical approaches that will be collaboratively decided on in therapy based on client needs and expectations.
Although not delivering a crisis service, but having seen the demand and long waiting lists firsthand, Elmarie is motivated to provide a brief therapy service to help some people when they need counselling the most. Together with providing traditional counselling, Elmarie will dedicate one of her working days to offer Brief Therapy (usually 1-3 sessions and at least 90 min long) to those who are on waiting lists and where targeted Brief Therapy can help the client cope until other therapy or resources becomes accessible.
Elmarie sees herself a mental health locksmith who collaborates with clients to unlocking their inherent potential to manage their challenges and live happier and more satisfying lives.
Elmarie offers a free 15-minute discovery call-back within 24 hours of contact to see if we will be a good fit for a counselling journey.
