Helen Wong is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and Australian Counsellors Association(ACA).
Helen has dedicated her career to empowering individuals and
families through compassionate, evidence based mental health support. After attaining her first degree in social
work in 2004, Helen further honed her expertise by completing a Master’s degree
in 2009, solidifying her foundation in family and mental health counselling. Helen’s
career has taken her across the globe, working in psychiatric hospitals,
residential training centres, schools, and non-profit organizations. She has
extensive experience in providing parenting skills training, supporting
children and adolescents with mental illnesses and disabilities, and helping
families navigate educational, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
Helen is proficient in a variety of therapeutic approaches,
including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment
Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Her training in EMDR therapy, in
particular, equips her to help clients process and heal from trauma
effectively. Helen’s ability to tailor her methods to the unique needs of each
client has set her apart as a practitioner.
Helen’s expertise spans a wide range of areas, including:
- Child and Adolescent Counselling: Supporting young people
with ADHD, autism, emotional disturbances, and trauma.
- Family and Couple Counselling: Helping families and
couples navigate relationship challenges, improve communication, and address
cultural differences.
- Mental Health Support: Addressing anxiety, depression, and
other mental health concerns with evidence-based therapies.
