I am passionate about working with young
people to develop their self-knowledge, and the skills and strategies
to facilitate empowerment and positive change.
I am an experienced additional needs
educator, and counsellor, with in-depth knowledge of all
aspects of the management and support of young people with additional learning
needs (ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia etc.,), from a broad range of
backgrounds and contexts. I have a particular interest and training in
motivation and an outstanding ability to develop relationships with
children, young people, parents, colleagues, medical and allied health
specialists, and the broader community.
Much of my work has focused on teenagers
and young adults, and their families. I understand that adolescence can
be an exciting time, but it is also a period of immense change. Young
people can struggle to understand and accept themselves. They can
find it difficult to find their place in the world. These challenges have been
made even more problematic to navigate given Covid-19, and the uncertainty that
it has brought to all of us.
Parents have also
found it helpful to have someone to support them in their role advocating for their
child’s needs, and processing the impact long term advocacy has on themselves
and their family. My role as an instructional coach has also provided a space
for teachers to build their capacity to reach all students, regardless of
their learning profile and improved professional efficacy.
Everyone needs a toolkit of strategies to help get
more out of every day, and a chance to rediscover all the gifts,
strengths, and resources they have available to them. If you feel
you would benefit from a safe space to explore ways to
live your life more fully, and with greater self-compassion and
understanding, I welcome your contact.
