My background was in teaching, adult education and organisation development before moving into counselling and psychotherapy. Since 2008 I have focussed on equine therapeutic work.At Grey Horse Growth and Learning I offer both office-based therapy and outdoor work with my team of experienced therapy horses. On the arena, with one or more of the horses, clients undertake activities that become a metaphor for everyday life. In this way, work with the horses helps clients to identify the patterns that bind them and the patterns that sustain them. This experiential approach allows clients to find their own solutions in their own time. Exploring the meaning of their connection and disconnection with the horses creates an opportunity for rich therapeutic dialogue and opens the way to insight and change. In particular it offers young people a non-judgemental alternative to the challenges of face to face counselling.
