Mariyon’s passions of language (BA Hons Lit/Comms), curiousity and empathy joined together when she started on the journey of psychotherapy 15 years ago. ‘What are our underlying motivations?’ is her key outcome from those studies. As she learnt more and saw more people struggling in their couples relationships over the last 5 years of treating people, she also draws on her 10+ year history of psycho education to help people via practical outcomes. Her relate-able metaphors help people get inside their own heads to assist with getting back out into the world coping with stress, anxiety, job changes or relationship breakdown. Her own experience growing up with a parent with a mental health condition helps her truly comprehend people’s sense of loss of self and compassionately guide them.
Mariyon Slany is a member of Australian Counsellors Association (MACA) and has trained with relationship experts John and Julie Gottman (lvl 1 & 2 and 7 Principles of Effective Marriage) assisting her in providing tools to couples struggling with lack of connection, getting out of kitchen sink arguments, infidelity or breakdown of trust for various reasons. Mariyon focuses on building resilience in the other’s self-perception (whatever your diagnosis) and does so with kindness and perceptive directness. Mariyon’s diversity of workplace experiences in the public and private sector are super helpful to inform her emotional intelligence understanding aided by her Counselling Qualifications, Graduate qualification in Dispute Resolution, Graduate Cert in Career Coaching and 10 years with Relationships Australia. A trained mediator and psychotherapist Mariyon has experience working with couples in crisis, and adults in many areas.

“I have been receiving support from Mariyon for around 8 months and she has helped me immensely to confront difficult issues in my life. A fantastic listener and she is always very well prepared for our sessions and doesn't miss a thing. I would unreservedly recommend her to others.” – Richard 2021
“I started seeing Mariyon last year and I am so glad for what she did for me. She identified my problem I think in the first or second session. She gave me reading material that made me understand why I was struggling so. I am a much happier person after I saw her and life is much easier now that I know what I have to beware of. Thanks Mariyon!” – Liesl 2021
